Marine
Engines have to be tougher.
- Marine
engines are almost always under heavy load, continuously pushing against
water (there are no "down- hills"). These tougher operating conditions
demand that marine engines be more rugged than their automotive cousins.
So we build in an extra measure of strength and reliability. Some day,
far from shore or with a storm brewing, our tough approach will payoff
for you and your crew.
Only the best blocks.
-
We start by selecting only the "healthiest"
blocks. No cracks, no rust, no signs of abuse. We completely disassemble
the blocks and vigorously clean them SIX times to wash away
contaminants. Carefully selected crankshafts are subjected to the same
intensive cleaning, then demagnetized before precision grinding and
polishing.
We measure cylinder bores three times. -
As an example of our passion for perfection,
after we bore and hone cylinders, we measure them three times to
ten-thousandths of an inch. We know this extra dedication will payoff
for you in performance and dependability.
We've earned an enviable reputation for producing
the highest quality remanufactured marine engines. We are fully
experienced with all types of marine engines- four-cylinder, inline six,
V-6 and V-8 from all manufacturers. You can be confident you'll get an
engine that's eager to let you run at full throttle again.
New internal parts, marine gaskets. -
We install vital new internal parts, including
new hyper- eutectic pistons where available, new premium piston ring
sets, new bearings, new valves, new marine camshafts, new springs, new
lifters, new timing components, and more.
We also install special marine head gaskets and
always use brass expansion plugs.
The final touch. -
After our expert technicians have completed all
critical machining operations, our reassembly team takes over. We rewash
all new and machined parts. We pre-lubricate camshafts and pistons. Then
we spin test every assembled engine while our computer system logs the
compression and oil pressure for future reference. After a complete
final inspection before shipping, your Recon remanufactured engine is
ready to go!
ALL parts we install meet or
exceed original manufacturers' specs. Many parts are actually better
than original equipment, because we pick up running changes to eliminate
problems common in the original engine.
DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS OF MARINE ENGINES
Inboard:
The engine and transmission are
inside the boat. The prop is connected to a shaft which goes
through the hull and is attached to the transmission. Engine
rotation is extremely important. |
|
V-Drive:
The engine and transmission are
mounted inside the boat with the water pump and front pulley
facing the rear of the boat. The transmission faces the front
and the shaft for the prop is directly towards the rear going
under the engine assembly and through the hull to the propeller.
|
|
Stern
Drive:
Also known as Inboard / Outboard. The
engine is mounted inside the boat with the stern drive unit or
transmission mounted on the outside of the transom. There are
some boat manufactures that have produced both standard and
opposite rotation applications. The rotation is incorporated in
the stern drive instead of the engine. |
|
Jet -Drive:
The engine is mounted inside the
boat and attached to a high-speed pump that acts as the
transmission. An adjustable nozzle is mounted on the transom,
which controls the steering. |
